Matrox Parhelia Capaitor C4 needs resoldering

Hi all :)

Today my Matrox Parhelia AGP 256MB arrived from USA, with C4 broken off, the break looks clean, it fell off when I gently removed the card from it's antistatic bag:

Here a closeup of th e Capacitor that is broken off, break looks clean:

Here a better closeup of C4 it's self, you can also see the spot where it broke off:

Here a previous Parhelia 256MB I had, which shows C4 in place:

Anyways I can ship it back to USA< but that would only cost me more I think, if it can be repaired by Loschzwerg here at VA, I dunno what else to do at this point, I just received the card btw.
And would it be safe to test it? Will the card work without C4 ?

Resolder

I wouldn't try to run the card with the cap broken off. It may work of course, but what do we know? Nothing.

The fix is a very easy one though, the cap is big enough to make it quite simple to resolder it properly.

Well not for me my hands are too shakey due to the illness I have, If anyone can help em out here, that would be of great honor. I know nothing aka nada of soldering and electronics so I am avoiding to fix it.
I seek help from people here :)

I could do it, or if Löschzwerg has the time, he'd be the perfect candidate.

Hi Obi. Sure I can do the job, but since I'm on vacation for a week from now (and not at home) I will defer to GAT or CryptonNite. But if you want to wait no problem, just send the card over, you should have my address :)

The card arrived yesterday. A second capacitor (C512) is broken off. I solder it on friday. I will do some tests on my ABit NF7-S (nVidia nForce 400 Ultra) for stability reasons and to make sure that the card is alive.

Repairing is done! :)

Sadly two of four soldering pads were damaged so it was really hard for me to solder it. I had to watch out, that the pads don't get worser than before so I had to cheat a little bit. This was successful. If the pads were OK (they weren't ), my work would look better.
The caps are fixed with a little bit super glue in order to make the soldering easier. Just like they do with special machines, but I did it manually. :spitze:

Here are some pics from my work.

This is C4. The bad pad is on the right side.

This is C512. the bad pad is on the left side of the capacitor.

Now the card is going to be tested on my ABit NF7-S. I will post some benches and screenshots. :spitze:

Looks very good :)

I also had a few cases where I had to use super glue and also solder epoxy.
