Herc 9700 Pro and Box Top:

This model is a limited Red X-Mas Edition card about 5000 of there were made before this model Hercules had this Standard Blue model as thier main Production model:

When X-Mas came the Hercules Radeon 9700 Pro because of it's great succes had a PCB colour change to Red for a short period of time and around about Februari 2003 the Blue PCB'd cards returned but without the blue paint on the ram sinks for better heat absorbsion:

Some other rumors of that Red Herc 9700 Pro was that the Blue PCB was out of stock and that was in the X-Mas period of 2002 til mid Feb 2003 :) hehe but still a nice piece to own now hopefully I can find the other 2 also :)

mmmh....but the blue model is much more exclusive than the red one...each nonHercules-9700PRO was red (except of some very nice black sapphire cards)

i own a blue hercules 9700 (flashed with a PRO-BIOS), cooled by an Ati-Silencer Rev1, looks amazing... :D

well afaik the red one was made because Hercules was out of Blue PCB the Blue ones are very common sionce all Hercules 9700 Pro cards were Blue and not Red, the Red Edition was made in limited numbers after Februari 2003 the Blue PCB'ed Hercules 9700 Pro's returned only with coppercoloured heat sinks.

the normal ATi Radeon 9700 Pro's were indeed Red, but the normal Hercules 9700's Pros were Blue and not red, so a Red Hercules 9700 pro is much more exclusive than a blue one ;)

For Hercules it's just the other way around.

for a Hercules 9700 Pro it is, they are normally Blue and not red ;), Oh well I used it to replace my Ti4600 :D and within another 3 weeks a X850XT Platinum Edition will replace my 6800GT AGP :) ATi cards are just better.

well, i know...but compared to ALL 9700PROs, hercules gave up their exclusiveness by using a red PCB...

nope hercules bought the red PCB's from Saphire because they ran out after constructing about 5000 cards they made blue ones again. the red PCB'ed Herc 9700 Pro's were around only for a very short time. after this Red Edition they went back to mak'n blue models but with copper coloured heatsinks instead of the standard blue ones.

oh well I got this card for free, BTW congrats with your X1900XT card aka R580 ;)

After R481 aka X850XT PE AGPP I'll wait for R600/R680 or something :) no more GeForce cards had too much problems with those things. the best GeForce I had was a Ti500 and Ti4600 after that it was ATi only for great experiences, I did give the 6800GT a run but even that card gave graphical problems in FS 2004 when flying higher than 7000 feet above an ociean or lake.

ATi has better PCB quallity.

oh yeah I see now :) why not the X1900XT? I mean they are cheaper than X1800XT's and alot faster also.

or did you make the order before the the release of the X1900XT?

anyways the R520 is indeed a sweet thing to have hay it would fly circles around my upcomming X850XT Platinum Edition hehe that's for sure, oh well the X850XT PE AGP is for me perfect :) I'm sure it will do fine for the next few years :) Flight Simulator 2006 is my goal :)

X1900XT cheaper than X1800XT, you're joking... :topmodel:

in germany the cheapest X1900XT costs around 500€, and it's almost sure that i'll get a X1800XT 512 for 315€...(in shops you can buy it for ~380€)

well performance wise yes Look:

X1800XT
X1900XT

look at the cheapest X1800XT and compare that with the cheapest X1900XT here in the netherlands the most gamers would pay like 5 euro's more for a much better performer, the X1800XL is indeed alot cheaper that one is around 348 euro.

yeah I agree there though I have to pay the customs alot so even then I would still pay alot. anyways the X850XT PE AGP is fine like i said before ;) it's way better than the 6800GT AGP I had just a few days ago, it's even faster than the 7800GS AGP look at this :topmodel:

even faster than the 7800GT PCI express card hahah LoL xD xD xD

those benches just shows ATi AGP at it's best and that AGP is not dead yet hehe :D

If I was gonna go for a PCI-Express card it would deffinitly be an ATi X1900 class card the CrossFire model with the XTX :) but that is my dream hehe if I would do that , I would need a new Mobo, CPU and so on, can't afford that right now, won't be needing that either, but yes it would be nice to obtain one day I'm sure it will happen hehe

ATi's R600 would be my next goal that chip is gonna blow nVidia to oblivion, ATi's R300 did to nVidia's NV30 & NV35 hehe ;)

ATi is teh King Yo! :respekt: :respekt: :hrr: :hrr: :spitze: :spitze:

Congratulations to your X850XT PE ;)
Seems like ATi cards are the ideal rendering target for the Cry Engine!

These screenshots make my 6800GT holing up :(

Thanx for your nice reply Elusive :) the 6800GT was a good card in other things hehe I had the XFX GeForce 6800GT AGP Dual DVI before this ATi card, it's just that in Flight Simulators I prefer the ATi card, I can then play at max details @ 1600 x 1200 x32 with FSAA x6 AF x16 on the GeForce only FSAA x4 and AF x8 was possible and when flying abouve 7000 feet above sea level, I got rendering erros with lakes and so pon and this was with every Force ware driver out there and when I installed my ole 9700 Pro the graphical errors were gone, after that I tested a friend's X850XT PE and also a clean image.

So I tested the 6800GT in HalfLife2, Quake4 and so on and no problems there so strange that FS2004 does not run that perfectly, that's why I'm go'n for the X850XT PE AGP., Without a good fly'n machine I'm nowhere LoL :topmodel: xD :topmodel:

Well I have learned when installing a Voodoo5 5500 PCI next to an ATi Raddy that you must install the Voodoo5 manually via Hardware Device Manager :) and with KoolSmokey's Voodoo Control for the Control Pannel you can also use the desired FSAA modes of the Voodoo5 it's self :) This way I can Voodoo anytime when requested :)

3dfx still our main thing hehe, when it's once in ya it will always remain, 3dfx truely is the best thing that ever happened still sad :( they aren't around.

My first ATi was a 9700 pro BBA in early 2003. I had played with a GF4 ti4200 before but I got blown away by the ATi! The step in quality was just breathtaking and it was incredibly stable! One year later I got my 9800. A indeed very good card I had until may 2005.

My next will be an ATi again! If it is a bit slower than the competitor it won't matter.
