Stimmt, es ist etwas schwierig zu lesen und zu verstehen bei der Typographie, oder halt dem Fehlen derselben. Ein wenig Formatierung wäre schon ganz gut.

Geht nicht um Sprache. Englisch ist ok. Geht um Punktuation. Etwas längerer Text ist sehr schwer und mühsam zu lesen und zu verstehen, wenn keine klare Satzstruktur vorhanden ist. Das war gemeint.

It's not about language. English is fine. It's about punctuation. Slightly longer text is very hard and tedious to read and understand when there is no clear sentence structure. That's what we meant.

Ich bin hier kein Admin oder Mod. Nur ein User, der schon seit einer Zeit hier ist. Ich habe keinerlei Moderations- oder Administrationsrechte. Keine Ahnung was Game of Thrones mit irgendwas zu tun hat?

Jedenfalls: Ja, ich lasse die X58 Kiste mit Standardvorgaben laufen. Ich habe schlichtweg keine Zeit für Overclocking und all die Stabilitätstests die ich dafür ausführen müßte. Die Kiste soll einfach ihre Arbeit erledigen. Und die is gut ausgelastet, rennt auch 24/7. Die CPU hat ca. 50-70% Last im Schnitt (weil's auch Leerlaufzeiten gibt).

Das Problem ist, daß die Rechenjobs manchmal wochenlang laufen (z.B.: 4K HDR H.265 bei sehr fordernden Einstellungen). Da kann ich mir keine Abstürze leisten, oder ich verliere zuviel Zeit.

Anyway: Yeah, the X58 machine is running at default settings. I simply don't have the time for overclocking and all the stability tests it entails. The machine should just do its work. And it's pretty well-loaded too, running 24/7, CPU is roughly loaded at 50-70% on average (as there are idle times).

Problem is, some of the computation jobs run for several weeks (think: 4K HDR H.265 at very taxing settings). I can't afford crashes with that, or I'll lose a lot of time.

Einige neuere X58 Bretter haben ebenfalls USB 3.0. Mein's war nicht darunter, weil es eines der frühen Bretter, also habe ich's mitg einer Quad-Controller StarTech PEXUSB3S44V Karte aufgerüstet, die 4 × USB 3.0 ports bei voller simultaner Geschwindigkeit ermöglicht. Hat NEC µPD720202 Controllerchips und ein PCIe 2.0 x4 Interface. Siehe Bild unten. Solange man einen freien PCIe ≥x4 Slot hat ist das alles kein Problem. Wenn nicht ganz so viel Bandbreite braucht, reicht zur Not auch ein PCIe 2.0 x1 Slot aus.

Some newer X58 boards do have USB 3.0, as well. Mine didn't originally, as its one of the very early boards, so I just upgraded it with a quad-controller StarTech PEXUSB3S44V card, which provides 4 × USB 3.0 ports at simultaneous full speed. Features NEC µPD720202 controller chips and has a PCIe 2.0 x4 interface. See picture below. As long as you've got a free PCIe ≥x4 slots, no problem at all. If you don't need that much bandwidth, even a PCIe 2.0 x1 slot may be enough as well.

Ich habe SLI vor einer Weile aufgegeben, um meinen Areca ARC-1883ix-12 RAID-6 Controller (mit 12 SAS/12Gbps Platten in Hot-plug Einscgüben) einbauen zu können. Die Grafikkarte ist eine einzelne GeForce GTX Titan Black. Da die Workstation mit XP x64 läuft ist das die stärkste GPU, die ich nutzen kann. Damit gehen Dinge wie The Witcher 2, Metro 2033 oder Mechwarrior Online, aber das isses so in etwa, hauptsächlich wegen des alten Betriebssystems. Für moderne Spiele habe ich eine zusätzliche kleine Mini-ITX Maschine mit einem Ryzen 5 2600X und einer Radeon RX Vega 64 (Der Ryzen wurde auch mit x264 und x265 getestet). Wiedergabegeräte sind ein 16:10 30" mit 2560×1600@60Hz und ein Odyssey+ VR HMD mit 2880×1600@90Hz.

I've given up on SLI some time back to be able to fit my Areca ARC-1883ix-12 RAID-6 controller (with 12 SAS/12gbps disks in hot-plug bays). The GPU's a single GeForce GTX Titan Black now. Since the workstation is on XP x64, that's the most powerful GPU I can use.
