  • Tweakstone: Danke dir.

@ all: Dann ein offizieller Hilferuf. Also Sockel A und 939/754.

Evtl anderen Browser versuchen?

  • That is one sweet build man, didn't know V2's would even work in that board, as aren't they limited to a 100mHZ fsb BASED cpu?
As the main PU goes that's a GF4 Ti-4400 with AGP x8 support afaik., the Ti-4600 with AGP x8 was named Ti-4800 without the SE in it, while the 4200 with AGP x8 was called Ti-4200-8X, When that 4800SE came out I was like why not call it Ti-4400-8X instead lol :topmodel:

But as main GPU I would of used a Hercules 8500 128MB or Matrox Parhelia AGP 256MB DDR, Image quality is more important for me so they would of been the better choice for that, all in all that build looks amazing very clean and all, how do the V2's actually perform in it, I guess a P3 1Ghz isn't much slower since after ty that CPU they would only form a bottleneck would be my guess, very interesting setup when it comes to them Gainward V2's tho.

Why should that be the case?

    V2 also works with King PIII-S 1400MHz on i815 boards at FSB133.

    PCI clock = FSB clock/Divider

max. Divider = 3 on older chipsets and 4 on newer boards.

    So,

    PCI clock = 133MHz/4 = 33.3MHz (e.g. i815)

    PCI clock = 100MHz/3 = 33.3MHz (e.g. i815, i440BX)

    PCI clock = 133MHz/3 = 44.3MHz = out of specification (e.g. i440BX)

Don't know whether there are boards supporting divider=5.

But besides that, there may be other reasons of incompatibility between V2 and the chipset that are not related to FSB.

    Meine Begehren

  • Gold Leader :

Thanks for your nice feedback. As already described, 100 MHz is not a limit regard to PCI. As a VooDoo2 partner, I prefer more modern cards, as my PCs should cover games from 1997/1998 to 2004/5. The performance of the V2s is approx. 10-20% worse (depending on the game). That doesn't detract from the fun at all. If I want real good V2 performance there are win98 builds with fast drivers for max performance in my "fleet". :topmodel:

    Kind regards

    Roadi

  • That's just a nice build despite the too new main GPU I would of gone ATii or Matrox but you like NV more, just go for it man :)

As for my Nighthawk K7 Project, it will be posted here in the upcoming month, parts like the mainboard, CPU & ram are still in Adelaide South Australia, but it will be a beauty tho, it's all cming to good place, the Donor Bios chip worked like a charm.

It seems I have to by pass ACPI via Win2K Install via the F5 or F7 key and enable APM in Win2K for it to shut down normally other than that it looks very clean.

Here a thread I made of the build:
