Meet Apple's new Mac Pro Vega II MPX featuring Dual to Quad Vega II Pro Graphics!

  • Here some crazy new hardware Apple been using for their all new Apple Mac Pro Workstations...
But then seeing this sick monstrosity of Apple's new Mac Pro Vega II MPX I was like why didn't we get CFX/IFL support for Rad 7 a high end product ya know? kinda sucks as it leaves us enthusiast users out...

    https://www.apple.com/mac-pro/

The Vega II Pro Duo boards have Dual PCI-E 3.0 connectors and some weird golden finger things:

What two of these babies could do , wish our Rad 7's had CFX or IFL support or left alone a Rad 7 x2 or so, would of been lots of fun for us enthusiasts hah :topmodel:
Here some performance numbers of this monstrous design:

Now I do find a shame they went with intel's slow 28Core Xeon Platinum CPU and not AMD's 32 Core EPYC or later gen EPYC II 64 core CPU's for a much more powerful solution which uses far less power and as a much higher core count and greater power efficiency use as well.
And no Dual CPU is also a shame, to feed these four GPU's a Dual CPU config is always a much better approach, this way you can feed two GPU's per CPU, that way eliminating certain system bottlenecks, also this solution lacks PCI-E Gen 4 slots something Vega 20 GLs do prefer especially in Quad GPU configs to maintain a 400GB per sec connection speed all four Vega II GPU's.
Anyways the design is pretty damn neat, Dual PCI-E Gen 3 x 16 slots per Vega II Pro Duo Module, not too bad of an idea actually, this design was probably of need to house all them VRM's I just hope Apple did an okay job fr the needed cooling for this design, because that could be an issue as their tight and cramped case designs go.

But then I'm like you could flash it and tweak it so it works with Q Win 10 Pro or Win Server 2019 or just go for a Quad AMD radeon Instinct MI60 setup via PCI-E gen 4 thereby getting 400GB per sec on average between all four 4096 core Vega 20 XTX GPU's:

Each MI60 & MI50 uses a Infinity Fabric Link (IFL) connector pretty much what NV uses for their RTX GeForce & Titan V, Quadro & Tesla boards:

See that large golden finger upper left that is for the IFL connector each of those needs 100GB per sec to reach optimal performance, the MI60 has the fully fledged Vega 20 XTX GL GPU, 4096 GCN 5.1 cores, 256 TMU's, 64 ROPS & 64 CU's packed with 32GB 4096 Bit Quad Stack HBM2.

So yeah I prefer the MI60 way, just wish Apple used AMD's EPYC II CPU's they are much faster and power efficient than Intel's slower 28 core Xeon Platinum CPU's.

But anyways I just wanted to share this, I hope it's okay :)

    Rock on 8)
