  • Jaaa,

Ach man, das sys is einfach geil :hrr: :respekt:

    :) Danke

  • hey Hutze try and find this setting in you bios, the Hardware Memory Hole setting should be set to Enabled:
    [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/main.p…_serialNumber=2]

Then you should see 4GB aka 4096MB at bootup, as it did work with my Opteron 185 system ;)
    [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/main.p…_serialNumber=2]

The Harware Memory Hole it's called, that opens the memory hole so all ram will be checked as displayed in OK status at bootup.

This should fix your beeping problem, what also helped was a bios flash to the latest bios.

Hey Hutzeputz, I found the latest bios for your Tyan Tiger 760 MPX @ Tweakers.net
    http://tweakers.net/meuktracker/5395/tyan-tiger-mpx-(s2466n-4m)-406.html

the Download url is the right one to have
    Bios version 406

  • no that is not the problem.
the problem is very many more differentiated.

bios does not have these attitudes.
the board does not make Bieb of tones if for it the RAM does not fit.
    it does not concern simply.

in addition the board 3 is years old!
in no whiter comparably with a matured Opteron board....

    ----------------

    nur aida32 macht probleme.
    Memtest sagt alles okay.
cpu-z und das Bios auch windows erst recht....

soll ich mir da sorgen machen oder lösch ich einfach aida32 von der platte?

    na toll
aida32 erkennt jetzt doch alle riegel.... :spitze:

    abpropo rigel... :D

  • hmm strange that Tyan does mention that your board like the one from SK1 can support 4GB, maybe you need momory which is double sided? or single sided, even that can differ, my ASYS A7V333-R which has the same age as the Tyan 760MPX boards also does max ram without problems, though I did use double sided unbuffered PC3200 Modules from G.E.I.L. which are 100% backwards compliant with PC2700 speeds and timings

Windows 2000 Pro as being my systemOS, neatly spotted all of the 3GB of ram aka 3072MB aka 3.145.728 KB.

As you see my max amount is 3.145.248 KB which differs only by a small 480KB from the total ram amount of 3.145.728KB, this 480KB has been buffered by Win2K hehe.
    [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/main.p…_serialNumber=1]

Strange that your much more professional board doesn't support max ram while it suppose's to.

    System Memory
Four 184-pin 2.5v DDR DIMM sockets
Supports up to 4GB* of Registered PC2100 DDR memory
    Supports ECC (72-bit) memory modules

    * Note: The AMD-760 MPX requires a portion of memory to be reserved for PCI devices. Allocation for these devices is dependent on the number of PCI devices installed, and option ROM for each device. Common configurations will see 3.5GB to 3.8GB of available memory

Do keep in mind if you want to utilise the maximum memory , you wil have to use PC2100 ECC Reg memory otherwise it will not boot! ;)

Even ECC Non Reg won't get you there., I had a similar thing with my ASUS A7M266-D motherboard with two AThlonMP 2200+ CPU.s the manual also mentioned that a max of 2GB is possible with unbuffered non ECC REG ram as ECC non REG ram

for the 4GB setting ECC ReG Buffered ram was recommended.

  • I think that your Asus of wesendlich fewer problems prepared than (SK1 and my)

but for what one needs already as much memory?
2 gigabyte should sufficient. and all the more memory the more arduously becomes it for the Motherboard.

and it lasts for a long time the start computers ....

    Zitat

Did you use 72Bit ECC ram modules? since it does support 72 Bit ECC PC-2100 as well, and maybe the ram you are using is 72Bit ECC PC 2100, which it may only support to 2GB, just a thought.

    I know this text:)
into my "user's manual" that is located written
I say: it is simply too complicated why and why…

mine tanslator is hair to borders sharply the feasible can you it at all still understand? :)

Your English is okay Hutze ;)

yeah you got a point for games 2GB is plenty, only I use my Opteron 185 as agame server and a game PC iin one, but yeah like you mentioned that my ASUS has fewer problems, is a fact hehe, it can differ from Motherboard brand as type too. :)

this way I can run a Fear Combat game server for 8 players and play on it without speed loss, as the memory helps out alot.

the most stressfull thing I did on it was run a Call of Duty2 deticated server on Core 0 and a Fear Combat deticated server on Core 1 and then also playing on it on Core 2 without system performace loss. about 3.8GB of the 4GB was used :)

The Computer club I go to is about 31 years old, they started as an electronics club in 1976 heh my birth year, in 1982 computers started comming to the club and by 1987 it was renamed as the Computer Hobby Club! and I have been going there for about 13 years which is since 1995 :)

and now having the most powerfull system of the club they let me run the deticated game servers on it as playing on it isn't a problem too at the same time.

these whole does not play games run with me.
I play games nevertheless only (nfs3, ut99 or Undying)

heh good titles, what you can do is run a UT deticated server on CPU 0 and run an Undying deticated server on CPU1 and play either game like you'd always would on both procs without system performance loss ;)

this is the main advantage of a SMP based system :) I;t all about Milti tasking, I'm quite sure that 2GB is plenty for these light weight games hehe.

    I use that also.
I the system under others therefore purchased!

in addition the system carries excellent out of services in 3d CAD
