Voodoo 3 3000 PCI BIOS

  • Hallo,

[EN] I am not sure what tool is used to download these bioses, but most have a lot of junk in them and are not terminated as it should. I guess they will still work, but lately haven't seen good bios downloader unfortunately. The site is legit though, not a scam :)

[EN] No, the BIOS is definitely from 3dfx, but was downloaded from an actual card. The tool used was not a 3dfx or it has a bug in it, so it doesn't download as it should. Where there should be 0xFF there is a junk, which doesn't affect the work of the BIOS, but seems it's not as it should be. Also all BIOS files according to VESA standard should have the Vendor ID at the end, and this one doesn't. As I said, this doesn't mean the BIOS wouldn't work, I said this as info.

  • Ah, okay.

  • Was sagt dein 07er BIOS im Boot-Screen?

[EN] Chosen_One What do you use to dump the 3dfx bios?

This seems like a working bios for sure, as the junk is written outside the working space, but still has no place in it.

  • I use Dump64k, or better others use it and send the BIOS to me.

Seems a french person dumped this BIOS, when I look at the names. Unfortunatelly I didn't talked to her since many many years.

[EN] At least in the driver source code LC is used for lower clock V3 (meaning 2000) - 143MHz instead of 166MHz. And also used only for DELL V3s. If this is just a coincidence I cannot say for sure:

ASSY BUS RAM Speed TV? LCD?
    %Voodoo3%=Driver.Install,PCI\VEN_121A&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_1137121A 762 AGP SD 166 NOTV NOLCD
%Voodoo3_LC%=Driver.Install,PCI\VEN_121A&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_1130121A AGP SD 143 NOTV NOLCD

  • [DE - DeepL] I'm really confused with this BIOS. At 166 MHz it looks completely normal like the V3 3000, although it was modified manually at some point.

    http://www.heise.de/ct/99/04/022/

    LC = Liquid Crystal
