don't understand what 100/133mhz pci slot you mean. it able to operate on 100 mhz pci-ex via pci to pci-ex adapter. it can work on 66mhz pci slot too.

all address lines are routed, so 64mb per chip configuration is possible

just wondering why you may need a socketed bios chip?

no 320 chips available no more, someone killed all stock of these, sorry

I am pretty sure if you would give a little shout in this forum you would probalbly get more VSAs as you might need :). Personally, I have eight VSA 320s left and I assume many members could also offer more.

Meaning no pressure in creating cards ofc, just saying :).

If you build the Card with the Universal PCI Slot, it would be possible to put it in every PCI/PCI-x Slot. 32bit/33mhz, 64bit/33mhz, 64bit/66mhz, 64bit/100mhz, 64bit/133mhz. Does the VSA100 and your bridge Chip handle a 100 or 133mhz PCI Slot?

Ok i think a 66mhz PCI Slot will be the safe way to go about it.

I like your Card and i want one. 200mhz / 256 mb would be realy nice.

Im not indepth with the Electrics, but is the PSU enough? It would be bad, if the Card would be killed because it gets some wrong Voltages ....

Maybe i want to test some Bios for the V5 6k, and i want to have the possibilität to swap the Chip on a missflash/ take a extern writer to fix the chip.

only 66mhz bus is possible

this card drains 5a from 12v line

never saw killed bios chip but with all the rest alive. bios on bricked card always can be flashed as usual if you make a boot with other vga card

But I have one issue, I think bier.jpg had the same in mind but could not say it in the right way.

I only know one Type of PCI-X Slot who can work in 32bit 66MHz Mode

and his PCI Notch is on the other side, so your card wont fit

Standard 32bit 33MHz PCI Slots where your card fit, dont go 66MHz...

Maybe you can redesign this part of your card to make it possible that the card can fit in this kind of PCI-X slot.

If not, I think it will lose a lot of possible performance.

that's correct. i should make goldinger for these slots. but if you prefer glide only games with such card, performance will be the same on both 33 and 66mhz buses, since textures resides in onborad memory.

The components, especially the eletrolytic caps are going to be a serious issue in the upcoming future and I personally love, that your redesign uses todays possibilities when it comes to building a clean, efficient power supply.

yep, i like very much texas instrumens power modules, 10a each. and you could see that i use no electrolytic caps at all at any of my designs.

I meant that the original 6000 series has such caps and they become an issue over time.

I'm not sure I'm with you on that. There are some pretty taxing Glide games out there as well, such as Descent³ or Freespace 2 (the nebula missions!). I doubt all games would pre-load the entire set of textures for a level (or area) into VRAM? It's more likely to happen while playing, no? There's also other things that need to move from system RAM to VRAM all the time, like geometry data?

Voodoo 5 cards have been known to be quite dependent on bus bandwidth, so maybe that concern is valid. If I were to buy one of your 6000 remakes, I'd rather put it into a 66MHz slot on its own, dedicated PCI bus.

But you said the final design will have the 66MHz notch anyway, right? So no problem.

Anthony didn't copy the V56k, but created his own interpretation like he did with other projects before. What means there is no mistaken with the original Voodoo cards.

q3 with max textures is a good test imho, i don't see any significant difference on bus speed. but if you have something else, pls apply some numbers, i'll accept.

anyway, pls consider my existing cards as a prototypes. new features could be implemented in future.

It's really a very impressive thing to construct such a card, respect Anthony - awesome work here

Looks to me like a new interpretation of a 6000 rather than a remake. I like the idea of this card as an additional Glide Accelerator addon card like a Voodoo2 with VGA Loop Connection.

Just a thought - have you considered designing it as a PCI Express x1 card? Is that possible with another bridge chip? Then you eliminate the bandwith bottleneck legacy PCI and there are plenty Platforms out there you could use the card with the latest XP32 drivers (socket 754/939/AM2/AM3, 775 11xx and so on). And some of them can also be used with good old Win9x

problem is: 6152 or hint bridge is hardcoded in drivers. only possible solution is to make uncouth construction as bridge behind bridge. or drivers patching required

PCI gives you Freedom, more Bords, more supported Platforms, no less Power.

The most Mainboards out of that Time comes with one PCI Bus.

PCI 32bit/33mhz with c.a. 133mb/s (real less)

PCI -> IDE/SCSI Controller, Gigabit Lan, USB 2.0, Sound.

Go on a LAN Party (after Corona / H5N8) and play some Games with Friends.

Copy a game to the local disk and play at the same time ---> you are out with a PCI Card

The normal PCI is full. A PCI-X @ 32bit/66 mhz Slots gives you 266mb/s for your GPUs.

Even if you use more then one Slot, there is enough space for everyone
