Intel ARC series GPU's yea we need a thread for these too, so here it is!

  • Hey all :)

Well I may as well make this thread a thing then and yes I do plan on going for an Intel ARC GPU I just want to try out something new and well it is faster than the 5.5 year old V64 I am using now and the Total board power of 225 watts is very welcoming as well. cards are Dual slot as well so they can even fit in tiny cases for example airflow should be quite good as well.
Here the dies of the ARC A770 & Mobile variant of it; which is the smaller one:

Drivers may be a bit sketchy but the more we test, the more proper bug reports can be made to help the ARC driver team to improve them, as with all such kind of things.

ARC 7 series are the following cards:

    ARC A770 PCI-E 16GB Limited Edition 256Bit GDDR6

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us…ifications.html
    ARC A770 PCI-E 8GB 256Bit GDDR6

    ARC A750 PCI-E 8GB 256Bit GDDR6
    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us…ifications.html

ARC 5 series will be launched at a later time.

    ARC 3 series:

    ARC A310 PCI-E 4GB 64Bit GDDR6:
    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us…ifications.html

There is also an ARC A750 Limited Edition but for all I know this card has the same hardware specs as the normal A750 I only think the clocks might be a tad higher, this is something I would like to look more in to.

    Hallo zusammen :)

    ARC A770 PCI-E 16GB Limited Edition 256Bit GDDR6

    https://www.intel.de/content/www/de…ifications.html

    ARC A770 PCI-E 8GB 256Bit GDDR6

    ARC A750 PCI-E 8GB 256Bit GDDR6

    https://www.intel.de/content/www/de…ifications.html

    ARC 3 Serie:

    ARC A380 PCI-E 6GB 96Bit GDDR6:

    https://www.intel.de/content/www/de…ifications.html

    ARC A310 PCI-E 4GB 64Bit GDDR6:

    https://www.intel.de/content/www/de…ifications.html

Will be interesting to see performance reports. Comparing it to the RX Vega 64 isn't a bad idea either, as that's a well-known card. I've honestly been looking forward to what Intel will be able to push out in the GPU department, but I'm still holding back with my expectations. Knowing Intel GPU hardware and especially (!) software, I'm not expecting too much. Like, game compatibility, etc. But it will be interesting in any case.

  • Yea I know they have a ton of driver fixes to make but as a first start and for a first RT based GPU by Intel I am pretty impressed on what I saw, it's just the waves of driver issues they come with, which will be solved in the upcoming months.

Here a nice detailed review of the Intel ARC A770 Limited Edition PCI-E 16GB Graphics card I have to admit it it's good to see it do well in some of the tests, all Intel needs to focus on is making a solid driver kit for the rest it's still a good thing that there is now a 3rd players in the graphics card market.

Also enable Smart Access memory aka SAM when using these ARC 7 series of cards they seem to take a nice performance increase from it.
Resolution wise 1440p works best on these, 4K is doable as well, it also depends on what game you are going to run with it.
1080p however needs a lot of attention driver wise.

Intel has alot of driver bug fixing to do if you are going to be considering on getting an ARC 770 LE 16GB you will be kind of a beta tester in the sense of numerous driver issues you will be facing, for something can be fun and enjoyable I myself would not mind it I would certainly help with bug reports and hoping them to use them to fix the drivers more and more.

But if you are just casual gamer and prefer stability AMD & NVIDIA are the places to be for now, but even so we finally have a 3rd player and that is very good news despite the wobbly results.

  • I already have a DG1 and a GUNNIR Photon A380, of course I also need an A770 LE 16GB as well :) The card is enough to drive my 1440p screen, I just hope that VRR is also working.

  • I already have a DG1 and a GUNNIR Photon A380, of course I also need an A770 LE 16GB as well :) The card is enough to drive my 1440p screen, I just hope that VRR is also working.

Just get ready for beta testing the horrible drivers but we did see that isf the ARC 770 LE 16GB does work well it's RT performance does beat the RTX 3060 by large margin and even manages to outpace the RTX 2070 as well not a RTX 3070 just yet but with proper driver updates and development upcoming we may get a healthier 3rd player that way.

AMD's RDNA 3 graphics cards will put everything to shame tho performance wise, but at least Intel has a lot of work planned and lets hope they make these cards more mature within 1 year's time, should be doable, they have more money than NVIDIA so I think they can bring us something great in 2 a 3 years time maybe?

will be exciting to follow for sure.

I myself won't be getting one my Nitro+ RX Vega 64 is mostly faster and for me it would be a waste of money as for RT I don't care for it as the games I play don't use it, I prefer the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XT if I will ever upgrade which will be around May of 2023 for me and not earlier.
But after that yea I may add an A770 LE 16GB by then it should be far more optimized. we'll see.

Just keep note tho, you need a 10th gen Core CPU or ZEN2 based AMD CPU to run this also make sure if using Ryzen 3000 series aka ZEN2 you will need a 500 series chipset for these cards to work in as well so there are major downsides, especially for those that wanna use these in their older systems, that won't work well.

    ----------------
    Auf Deutsch:
    ----------------

I also pre-ordered the A770 16GB, but since there is no guarantee that it will be delivered, I also went for the A750 which was readily available yesterday morning.

I will leave it in the package until I know if the A770 will be delivered. I don't have the time to try it out anyway.

As only Intel is making these right now, the supply will certainly be lower than demand.

  • Ok, here the universal size comparison 8):

Yes, my resolutions didn't even last one day! :topmodel:

I cancelled my order of the A770 and will keep the A750.

I initially wanted the 16GB version not for gaming, but for productive work like AI calculations.

Now I think it is highly unlikely that these cards will ever get usable support for such applications.

Maybe in 2 generations, if there will ever be a real successor outside of data center and low cost OEM applications.

In my eyes, these cards will be Intels Parhelia.
They wanted to enter the market with gaming hardware, like AMD and Nvidia did, but now they have to sell their chips way way under cost.

That would be fine for a start if they where not in their current market position.

I hope they will last long enough to get a foothold.

How and in what field does Intel themselves (not Micron) still manufacture DRAM? I was not aware of any such thing. As far as I was aware Intel had given up on manufacturing DRAM by themselves long ago, and a few years ago, they even dropped flash controllers and NAND itself for non-volatile memory. Is Intel really still manufacturing capacitive DRAM?

@RaVeNsClaw: How was getting resizable BAR working so hard? All I had to do was switch it on in the UEFI firmware of my X470 board, and that was it. But then again, I have a Radeon, no ARC, so it's specifically hard with Intel ARC somehow?

PS. Die Performance der Karte in DX12 ist toll. In DX11 ist sie passabel. In DX9 ist sie unterirdisch. Etwa das Niveau einer 8800GTX.

Diverse eingebette Systeme sollen wohl laut Intels Webseite noch immer damit arbeiten.

  • Hey nice man grats with your ARC A750 :respekt: the A&70 LE 16GB does look the nicest even as a collectors item, but yea these are very much like the Matrox Parhelia, I just hoped Matrox wcontinued work on the Parhelia II which would of fixed a lot of issues like the flaw within the P512's memory controller for example and would of been a full DX9 die as well.

Advantage for intel is that they do have the money to make ARC's later generations better as where Matrox didn't back then, that too can play a huge role.
But understandable that ya cancelled the A770 LE 16GB, I look forward to driver improvements of this blue cards :)
