Any idea what happened to the 3dfx gallery?

    Jup, zum Teil. Das liegt an einem Migrationsprozeß von alten, verwundbaren hin zu neueren Softwareversionen. Sie haben die Galeriesoftware von einer uralten Version 2 auf die neueste Version 2 und schlußendlich auf die aktuelle Version 3 hochgezogen. Das bringt auch mit sich, daß man von einer nicht mehr unterstützten PHP Version 5.x auf 7.x gehen konnte. PHP ist die Programmiersprache auf der Serverseite, die im Hintergrund dynamisch Informationen aus einer Backenddatenbank zieht, und das HTML generiert, das du dann im Browser siehst.

    Es sieht so aus, als wäre diese Migration nicht ganz ohne Schwierigkeiten verlaufen. Laut den Betreibern braucht es immer noch einige manuelle Fixes um alles lauffähig zu kiegen. Es scheint aber keinen Zeitplan zu geben, [siehe hier].

    Yep, to a degree. This is due to a migration process porting the gallery from old, vulnerable software to current versions. Namely they've upgraded the gallery software from an ancient version 2 to latest version 2 and ultimately to the current version 3. This also brings the project from a long-unsupported PHP version of 5.x to much newer 7.x. PHP is the programming language that runs on the server and fetches data from a backend database to construct the HTML you get to see in your browser dynamically.

    It seems that the migration did not complete without issues though. According to the operators, there is still a lot of manual fixes required to get it going. There does not seem to be any timetable yet though, [see here].

    Well I hope the gallery can make a comeback, alot of good photo's could go lost if any of the participants did not back up their work, I did thankfully.
    Surrimugge I hope you are able to revive the site, thanks for all the hosting you have done for all the past years.

    Sry for my delay. Lot of stuff to do.

    There was an update from the hoster and there was an issue with the "mod_rewrite"-option. The result was, like LoB was writing, that the requested CSS- and JS-File contained again the full index-page.

    But now it should work again. Currently nothing is lost. I made a backup of the gallery and from the database too. But to be honest, I don't know how long this gallery will be working for the next years. 😅 The code is old, and there aren't updates available. Already got some mails from India, where the want to update the website with a more responsive approach, like optimize it for mobile phones.

    Aber es funktioniert noch immer nichts? Wo ich auch hinklicke, er ladet nur die Hauptseite neu. Selbiges für den Loginlink. Der einzige Link der tut was er soll ist der zur "Galleryproject"-Software auf der die Seite basiert, was offensichtlich nicht besonders hilfreich ist. Also immer noch broken? Hab's im Firefox und Chromium probiert, aber es verhält sich in beiden gleich.

    But it's not working at all? Wherever I click, it just reloads the main page. Same for the login link. The only link that does what it should is the link to the "gallery project" software the site is based on, which is obviously not very helpful. So, still broken? Tried it in Firefox and Chromium, but that didn't matter, same behaviour.

    But I can not seem to login, I tried to reset my login, but nothing ever came to my email to help me reset my password, I have new 3dfx cards I would like to upload as well as NVIDIA ATi/AMD & Matrox cards, as I have kind of started to collect graphics cards again.
    It would be nice if we could upload photo's of our graphics card collections to this place like we did in the old days, so it would get it's old purpose back again to it's fullest potentials.

    Aber ich scheine mich nicht einloggen zu können. Ich habe versucht, mein Passwort zurückzusetzen, aber ich habe nie eine E-Mail erhalten, mit der ich mein Passwort zurücksetzen könnte. Ich habe neue 3dfx-Karten, die ich gerne hochladen würde, ebenso wie NVIDIA-, ATi/AMD- und Matrox-Karten, da ich wieder angefangen habe, Grafikkarten zu sammeln.
    Es wäre schön, wenn wir hier wieder Fotos unserer Grafikkartensammlungen hochladen könnten, so wie wir es früher getan haben, damit diese Seite wieder ihren ursprünglichen Zweck in vollem Umfang erfüllen kann.
