Hello,
I am looking for details of an Ebay auction in 2004 or 2005 for a non-functioning Voodoo 5 6000. Ebay and PayPal do not have any records of it. Does VoodooAlert have an archive of old Ebay auctions that I can search through? The seller mailed me the Voodoo 5 6000 card from San Jose, California.
When I bought the "junk" Voodoo 5 6000 on Ebay in 2004 or 2005, I installed it in my Iwill DVD266-R dual Tualatin motherboard to see if it would function. The card generated a VGA signal that looked like a garbled Bios. I never tried to power it up after that. I kept the Voodoo 5 6000 as a Totem for the memory of 3DFX.
This is my Voodoo 5 5500 card. I bought it in the summer of 2000 before I returned to college. I performed a continuity test using a multimeter set to diode mode. There is no continuity between the two outer Molex pins and the two center pins. The center pins have no resistance between them. I think this card is still functional. I do not want to power it up before replacing the capacitors.
I am a young member of Generation X and I grew up playing on Ataris, Nintendo, SNES, Sega Genesis, and the N64. I became a huge PC gamer in the mid-1990s and fell in love with First Person shooters such as Quake GL, Quake II, Quake III (open GL), and Half-Life.
Counter Strike 1.6 nearly caused me to fail out of college when I was studying to become an engineer. My favorite CS 1.6 maps were CS_rats and CS_mouse. I want to build a retro gaming rig and experience the magic of the Glide API again. I own a Voodoo 2, Voodoo 3 3000, Voodoo 3 3500, a Voodoo 5 5500, and a Voodoo 5 6000 (non-working card from an Ebay auction in 2004 or 2005).
The demise of 3DFX hit me hard. It was a soul crushing experience and I have since made my peace with Nvidia. My small collection of 3DFX shares became worthless and I became a Nvidia customer.
I have not yet located my Voodoo 3 3500 or the Voodoo 5 6000. I am 99% confident that they are together in a bin of old PC equipment. This is why I want to search old Ebay auctions.
This motherboard was the host for the Voodoo 5 5500 and it served me well for many years.
If I find the Voodoo 5 6000 card, I would like to have the card refurbished into a working card if possible.
