Die Aalchemy braucht, soweit ich das verstehe, beides: 2,9V für die VSA100-Chips und 3,3V zum Betrieb.
Just saying, dont connect 3.3v to it when it's in a 3.3v PCI slot, if you use a 5v slot only then do you need the 3.3v. The 3.3v input in the top is directly connected to the pins at the PCI slot, have testet on a multimeter. -

You dont understand what i wrote, ofcourse the card needs the 2.9 volt. Just saying you must not connect 3.3 volt to it when it\s in a 3.3v PCI slot.

Sad to hear that your 8164 may be defective, also have that truble with my 8264, it gets detected by the system but cant really get it running. If you have it in a 3,3v slot won't you need any 3,3v supply, in the fact is thare a chance that you will damage both the card and the motherboard if you do so.

Speaking about VSA100 modding, her's somthing for you to think about

Die neue Lüfter sind an die passenden Stecker gelötet und posieren schon mal testweise auf der 6k. Passende Schrauben fehlen noch. Dann darf die Karte endlich wieder ins System.
Wow! :O
I really loves the new fans! Gives it a even more awesome look! I got me a new wallpaper :3 -
Slot1 is one of the best. fast enough for the most of all 3dfx cards. and it comes with the greatest variants of memory
If you like to have only "high end" in your systems, what do you want with those cheaply Creative consumer shit?
Are you thinking about any paticular soundcard? Have actually tried looking for professional soundcards but without any luck. But i need a soundcard for the year 2000 build so if you know any professional soundcards then please tell me
But i think i'm gonna stick with a AWE64 gold in that Compact 1998 AT Build, sinze it allready is a costumer level build. -
Thanks a lot for the pm Gold Leader! Nice to see you here.
Have now bought the one of them you linked to Thought it would be less risky than choosing the one i found along with the gold-recovery scrap hardware. Bet i cant be lucky every time.
The one i bought:

What do you mean by "a lot"?
Well, i dont know how many Slot 1 systems i have, and it's NOT like i'm collectiong them. Have actually dumped a many of them. But i have 12 "Slot 1" systems in local stoarge. Dont know how many i have in the boxes at my external storage.
Keep in mind i often sort stuff out as thers space for more hardware, and i'm not really intrested in Socket 7, Socket 370 and Slot 1 systems. So it's usally those wich gets to the dump. As thers space for more intresting stuff. But here's pictures of the 12 "Slot 1" systems i have at home right now.

I just painted all of it with radiator paint, had to paint it no matter what cuz of the metal work.
I have the rare Riva TNT from ELSA, but keep in mind that the card have to be used as a 2D card, G200 was way better when it came to 2D.
I have a lot of other high-end 1998 builds where i use Dual P2 450. What makes this special is cuz it's inside an AT case, usally people would have got a K62 but this have Slot 1, Slot 1 with BX chipset in a AT was a rare thing to see...

Really nice!
I have some questions:
- Why are the hard drives sticking out?
- What material is the decal made of? Vinyl?
- Did you just add regular DDR - heatspreaders to SDR-DIMMs?
- Why not a G400MAX? Or at least a G450, since they are more abundant?
- What's your favorite game on it?There was a reeeally cheap offer for 200SBi not so long ago, maybe you have luck. I am looking for Quantum3D stuff, too

The harddrives sticking out and painted in 3dfx colurs is my own idea, thought it would look totally awesome. And i think it did. I personally like it, but also know that others dont.#2
The 3dfx logo is cutted out of a old desk mat and painted.#3
It's just regular DDR heatsinks, not totally agecorret, but thought it fitted nice to the thermaltake heatsink.#4
Both G400 and G450 came in 1999. But i ofcourse own the cards, both in 16 and 32mb edition. But they would be too new for a 1998 build.#5
I'm a "Jurassic Park: Trespasser" fan, the game also came out in 1998 and was so extremly hard for even high-end computers to run. But it has a fantastic gameplay (Or atleast when the game dont glitch itself to death) and the real heavy engine only makes it more challenging for retro gaming builds. And must admit i'm a bit of a Jurassic Park fan.Yes there was a black 200SBI on ebay sold for liturally nothing some months ago, but i want to get the green boards as i later can use them in a brick Just have to get enough of them. (I allready have the Aalchemy Module and Riser Cards)

Compact 1998 Gaming Build
Hers a project i did some months ago. Was bored and didnt want to drive a old empty server case to the dump. So choosed to do somthing awesome with it instead.
Long story short, this is based on a old AT server case, and thought that it would be nice to do a year 1998 Windows 98 gaming build in a AT case! Have done it in ATX cases and but now AT. (Or atleast not a Pentium II build in a AT) But thers not many Slot 1 AT boards, but i managed to buy one with a BX chipset!
The project is not completed yet, as i want a Quantum 200SBI instead of those two Voodoo2's. It will free a PCI slot and in that slot can i put my Wildcat 4000 as a 2D card. But havnt got that 200SBI yet... Lost my job.
The final build will also have a AWE 64 Gold instead of the SoundBlaster Live. And two seagate medalist pro 7200 harddrives instead of the Quantum Fireball's.The current specs is:
Gigabyte GA-6BA
450Mhz PII + Thermaltake Fan
512Mb 4x128 133mhz SDRAM with heatsink's
Soundblaster Live (Wish a SoundBlaster AWE64 gold)
2x Quantum EL 5,12Gb (Wish two Medalist Pro 7200)
2x Voodoo2 12Mb SLI (wish a green Q3D 200SBI)
Matrox G200.Here are some pictures from before the modding:

Thanks a lot for all the messages, had a hard time translating all of them to english/danish. But thanks a lot, i'll try to answer them the best i can.
Yes, i'm using Windows 2000 Advanced Server for having the PAE support, having some truble with the drivers for the AGP interface, but can't find any chipset drivers for the Tyan Thunder 2500. So have to find another board wich is using the same chipset and then use the drivers from that.
No, the both Power Supplies dont have any active cooling installed inside them. Because they both in a small box ventilated by a single 60mm fan. And it's not a jet-fan. Just a regular 60mm. But must ofcourse admit it is not a quiet build. But it's not too noisy. Nothing compared to a fx5800 ultra
I'm NOT gonna use this Quantum3D 8264 card ether, it's only for testing. Because i have got some truble with it, and i'm gonna test it one last time before i send the card to Oschar for mtesting. To see if it's my homemade PSU or the card itself ther's somthing wrong with. Wich me good luck!
The final card are gonna be a Modded voodoo 5500 PCI, it will have 128mb VRAM and REV320 chips.

I'm new here, hope i posted this the right place
Got this Intel SC5100 chassis yesterday, and have now installed my Tyan Thunder 2500 in it.
I'll add another set of drivebays and ofcourse get another video card. A
regular voodoo 5500 PCI is way too cheap and boring for a year 2000
wet-dreambuild. Ha haJust have to get the last "parts" home from Oscar... Can't wait!
The current specs is right now:
Intel SC510 ATX case
2x 350Watt's PSU's
8Gb 133mhz ECC RAM
2x Pentium III 1Ghz
Voodoo 5500 PCI
4x 18.4Gb Quantum Atlas 10KII SCSI drives.
SCSI VS tape drive.
IDE CD/DVD drive.
2.5 floppy driveSpared no expense - John Hammond
