Started working on my new "main" retro gaming machine. After several tries, decided on going with the GA-8I865GME-775-RH, E5800, 2x1GB of memory, Hercules Game theater XP (might change it for a vortex 2 card) and win98SE.
Original V5 has now been retired, the new card really does make a difference, especially with it having hdmi, I can use it with my main UW monitor.
How are they holding up? I had those heavy duty but used ones and I did have quite a few fails.
You'd need quite a few batteries, depending on your usage ofc. On our weekend house I had a few years back a few panels with used car batteries and during the summer it worked ok-ish, winter time was not that great.

It went up here as well, but we're talking about an under 50% increase of price.

I am a huge fan of nuclear power. It's safe as long as you make it safe. It's also a really stable source, you know at all times how much you are getting out of it. Electrical cars alone will demand so much more power, we have no other option really.

Nuclear power is the greenest out there. Solar & wind is nice, but they're not stable enough to be a primary source of power where I live. Greta...I'll better keep my opinion of her to myself.
830 KWh per month costs 500+€ there? I spend roughly the same amount (~10MWh) per year since I also have a house full of gadgets and "smart things" and I used to pay around 120€ per month before I had the solar panels installed. Now it's 13€ per month and a yearly assessment. If I use less than what I produced I have to pay for it, if I produce more I give it to the power company.
Even with your higher incomes, they are robbing you with those prices.
Yeah that common European market has its downsides. Our nuclear power plant sells it a few times cheaper than for what we have to buy it back for. But I guess it does provide security and stability. We do need that second nuclear power plant ASAP.
I'll probably get back around €600 because I'm still paying for the unused gas. However, that only covers around 4 months in terms of price increases in the electricity sector. Just 4 months - not a year. Considering the reduced quality of life, not heating is not even particularly efficient as an object of economic efficiency; So it would be much better here to save on power guzzlers. Unfortunately, this is not possible for me under the condition that I want to continue to operate my server.
Basis: I currently pay €500 per month for electricity and only €50 for gas heating. Actually a mockery, if you consider the alleged Austrian price coupling of electricity to gas; There should never be a relationship like that.
Mind me asking... how much electricity do you spend per month to get a 500€ bill?

Why? It's way too restrictive on the back, serves no purpose. I'll put a nicer grill on the back. On the side a nice window to showcase the voodoo gpu. It's a small box and if you can get better airflow, you should do it. It will only prolong the functioning of the HW.
I have been playing with my SS51G V2 lately. Was meant to be my primary retro pc as the OG V5 only works with a few selected boards. I have new plans now 
But I have done some modifications to it. Recapped the original PSU, but is still too loud, so I have to find a Seasonic somewhere. Removed the rear grill, replaced original fan with a really silent Nortua, also placed a fan on the chipset heatsink. Cut the side to make my modified V5 fit. Now I'm designing an acrylic window. I have struggled to get USB 2.0 working in 98SE, but have sorted that out.

I'm building a similar pc. I have the V2 of the SS51G, so I've upgraded the cpu to a 3.06 Nothwood HT@3.33ghz, 2GB memory, 240GB SSD, Diamond MX300 and a V5 5500. I'm using the new wide screen drivers and they do work great.
I installed these coolers - 1u server coolers + noctua = dead silent card.
Oh Gott, Backfire bekommt einen Anfall^^, Noctua Lüfter auf überdimensionierten Alu-Kühlkörpern und als Sahnehäubchen auch noch schräg montiert

I have a few boards like this with weird issues, have you replaced all of the capacitors? Also have you tried replacing your PSU?

Well there isn't much one can do about it other than have a well insulated house and led lightning. In a month am getting 12KW solar panels installed which should provide more than enough electricity for me. Luckily we still have yearly net metering so electricity should be "free" for me from now on. Currently we use about 8Mwh and this should provide me with around 13Mwh of power. Consumption will rise once i replace my pellets with a heat pump. Last year we used about 3 tonnes of pellets.
