As of now, I don't see that there's any violation against an active trademark or patent.

I just did a simple trademark search with the United States Patent and Trademark office.
As of now, there are no active trademarks for the term "3dfx" anymore, one of the seven shown listings also includes the "new" 3dfx logo.
If I'm right, the last one was abandoned on the 30. June 2016. I'm not an attorney but if I'm right there are no issues to use the term 3dfx or the logo at this point.

Ich sag da nur das:
-
i dunno if it possible to use it as a dedicated 3d accelerator. have doubts
What's the technical difference between the original 6k and yours when it comes to that?
-
yep, i like very much texas instrumens power modules, 10a each. and you could see that i use no electrolytic caps at all at any of my designs.
I know and that's what I really like
I meant that the original 6000 series has such caps and they become an issue over time.
So your design is superior when it comes to that

There have been only positive feedbacks except from one, don't let one voice speak for the entire board or the community.
One thing aside: The 10 warranty from 3dfx was a total joke as the company didn't even last that long. The components, especially the eletrolytic caps are going to be a serious issue in the upcoming future and I personally love, that your redesign uses todays possibilities when it comes to building a clean, efficient power supply.

DVI Should work actually, if a 5500 PCI Mac can use it:
A digital image is not created the same way as a RAMDAC does it for an analog image.
If the chips have no dedicated framebuffer where the entire image is stored with proper synchronization, you'll have to build something yourself and that's maybe not even possible. Thinking about the amount of effort that went into this card I'm pretty sure Anthony thought this through properly and came to the conclusion that it's not really feasible at this point.
I'm really looking forward to see this masterpiece do its magic.

-
98SE und auf keinen Fall ME
FTFY
-

First of all, I really love that someone takes the time and effort to create such a card, especially after more than two decades have passed since the 6k prototypes have seen the light of day.
This is what engineering and hacking is all about, this isn't yet another Glide emulator, this is real hardware and I love that!
I also have to say, that it looks fantastic. That dark, cleanly layouted PCB in combination with these copper coolers looks very sleek.
I would love to see this card in action and if possible, also hear about the process of getting rid of the known issues.
