Project Pascal: The Descent To Insane Levels of FPS & Beyond!

  • Hey all :)

It's been a while that anything new came from my end so here a topic in this section of the forums since well its my first EVGA FTW item as well,
    So to bring EVGA it's self some compliments when it comes to packing hardware even if it's VGA cards Motherboards or anything else;
I took pics of the entire unboxing so hopefully you will like this pics from beginning to end!

    Lets start shall we

After opening the transport box this is what you see. AIRBAGS!!! xD Fun to pop in my hallway SK1 would know why lel :topmodel: BAM! xD
    http://abload.de/img/evgapackswell4pu7e.jpg

Under the Airbags you see bubblewrap:
    http://abload.de/img/gtx1080ftw2neatlypackxpuk7.jpg

And once shoving the bubblewrap aside a bit things start to become clear what is in this box of goodies:
    http://abload.de/img/hitherejru41.jpg

There we go and hello there!
    http://abload.de/img/bubblewrapneatlyuseduqkky.jpg

Here's the box in the shrink wrap top view:
    http://abload.de/img/gtx1080ftw2boxsealedtpqufb.jpg

    & rear view:
    http://abload.de/img/gtx1080ftw2boxsealedrxzuyw.jpg

Here without the shrinkwrap, gotta love the steel like art on the box, well done guys :)
    http://abload.de/img/gtx1080ftw2boxtopddujh.jpg
Also love the Chrome like letters you guys guys, really brings forward the product's name

    After removing the sticky tape from the box and sticking it on the inside of the box's cardboard and opening up the box side flap;
EVGA neatly places a Cyan colored Please Note Decal, this tells you what to do if things don't go well:
    http://abload.de/img/innerboxflappleasenotdguj0.jpg

Once I neatly and carefully removed the innerbox from the outerbox I made this shot:
    http://abload.de/img/outerinnerboxvsul5.jpg

Here I opened the innerbox and found a folder with the EVGA logo printed in the cardboard
    http://abload.de/img/innerboxopened2qudn.jpg

Slowly I go on revealing the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX and some other contents:
    http://abload.de/img/innerboxcardfolderout9autl.jpg

Then after unpacking everything else they added a full size poster some stickers a metal case bad manuals and Driver CD:
    http://abload.de/img/allboxescontentskcue7.jpg

Here the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX, some other extra PCI-E Power cable splitters.
Plus the inner box I took apart from it's protection compartment, all well put together:
    http://abload.de/img/innerboxcontentsprotedgu5u.jpg

After unpacking the VGA card it has this protection decal covering it, keep in mind to remove this before use!
It's on the top of the card along the sides with the LED Logo's are and on the backplates so here three pics I took revealing where these decals are placed:

    Top:
    http://abload.de/img/removebeforeusagesticxjuzt.jpg

    Rear:
    http://abload.de/img/removebeforeusagesticuqumm.jpg

    After removing those protection decals here's the piece of art it's sell;
    All behold:

    EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX PCI-E 8192MB 256Bit GDDR5X Rev.A2 1708 (Year 2017 - Week 08)
Thankfully I could see the PCB ate through the rear part of the backplate's E that is above GE from the GeForce GTX 1080 Logo!
Such details are important to me, to comepare with other cards in my Graphics Card Collection

Here the Headshot with that Speeno:

This a Tribute to my EVGA GTX 680 SC Sigs from 2011, made this my wallpaper as well

Which was this one if some of you remember:
    http://abload.de/img/spinosaurusagypticus_peu81.jpg
And man I miss my two EVGA GTX 680 SC Sig 2GB's.. Still seeking a pair for my Dual 6 Core OpteronDP 2435 D0, 4GB Models are also welcome.

Here the EVGA GTX 1080 High Flow Bracket with the in & outputs:

    Rear angled:

Also note that it's backplate is in two halves

    Underside cooling view:

So then a Floofles came to see!
    http://abload.de/img/afloofcametoseeliu7c.jpg

And Speeno joined as well xD
    http://abload.de/img/aspeenojoineddafloof70udf.jpg

An Acro also decided to come see, the message was clear
    Yes EVGA &NVIDIA I have Returned ! :D
    http://abload.de/img/thenanacroalsocamealoobueg.jpg

:topmodel:And not to worry no Dinosaurs were harmed during this photo shootout :spitze:

Here some final pics I made of the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX built in my 24 core monster system:
    http://abload.de/img/evgagtx1080ftw2icxinslkqvt.jpg

Here a closeup of the CPU's System Ram & EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX installed :)
    http://abload.de/img/cpusramgpucloseup32r66.jpg

Here a closeup of the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX it's self
    http://abload.de/img/gpucloseuplsqjt.jpg

And I have to admit this GPU is so much faster than the GF100-375-A3 I used before it, GP104-410-A1 justifies everything.
So here the final touch
    http://abload.de/img/evgagtx1080ftw2icxlit1xobj.jpg

And here the entire system it's self and the specs to round this one up :)
    http://abload.de/img/vlkyriesmp2014upgrade2rrjr.jpg

So yeah there ya have it, this is by far the best GPU I ever used even I been using less than my first 24 hours!
Pascal is indeed well worth it as many of you told me before here and I am happy I got my Pascal chip like many others of you here.

Lets look forward to how Volta will do then :topmodel:

  • Congratz to your 1080
May it turn your evenings into the FPS madness you're looking for :topmodel:

At least the GTX 1080 still does have a DVI output. For the 1080Ti I had to buy an extra Displayport to DVI converter to hook up my Wacom tablet.
A HDMI to DVI converter could not provide the necessary refresh rate for the Wacom screen. So my stylus didn't work. At least now it's working fine.

    Voodoo-Kiste (seit 3dfx BayernLAN 2007):
    TUSL2-C, P3-S 1400, 512MB SDR, Voodoo 5 5500 AGP, 9,1GB IBM SCSI (OS), 40GB HDD (Games), Adaptec 2940-U2W SCSI
    Dualatin: GA-6VTXD, 2x P3-S 1400, 1GB SDR, 2x 60GB, Hercules Radeon 8500 128MB

Work (CG): MSI TRX40 Creator, AMD TR 3970X, 128GB RAM, Titan RTX 24GB, Win10Pro

    Zock & Office: MSI X58 Pro-E, Xeon X5680 4,2GHz, 24GB RAM, RX590 8GB, KDE Neon

Hay thanks man! yeah it's well worth it

If you seek a GTX 1080 Ti with DVI support, you could go for the EVGA GTX 10780 Ti SC2/FTW3 boards these still ave the DVI port btw, here ya go :)
    https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=11G-P4-6696-KR

EVGA has always been the brand of my liking, their community has great support, theyare friendly and always there to help when ever that is of need, their RMA service is top notch, they may cost a bit more than others but if you look at their custmer support, you can't go wrong either.
As the Blue Ribbons go, that was thanks to the numerous topics I made in their forum since 2009 I have earned 47 Blue Ribbons with less than 3400 posts which is a shitton, most people with 40 BR's have over 35.000 posts, but they all know my VGA card collecting obsession :topmodel:
    As this topic clearly explains:
    https://forums.evga.com/Meet-my-VGA-Ta…e-m2030876.aspx

Each Blue Ribbon has a value of 2 EVGA Bucks that being 2 Euro's for us Europeans :)
And of the 46 I had when I ordered my GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX 8GB, I had 30 left over which gave me a sweet 60 Euro discount!

So instead of 656 Euro's I paid 596 Euro's for my card, well worth it for my doings, my Radeon R9 290X died justr 4 days after the Warranty ended. my RX 480 8GB gave me major rending issues with Fallout4 and Primal Carnage Extinction I was justr done with AMD Radeons, period.
So before buying my card I tested with my 7 year old EVGA GTX 480 and no more misrenders like blue trees or other misplaced and misrendered textures.

Games like DOOM 2016 or Descent Underground ran fine on the Radeons but my favored games PCE & Fo4 , nothing but issues issues and issues.
And since AMD had nothing to compete with a GTX 1080's performance when it comes to a single GPGPU solution E I went for the ebst GTX 1080 the market could give which is Dual Slot, the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX was my final choice and so far this card has fulfilled every dream I was hoping for,
Been Playing The Witcher3: Wild Hunt Game of The year Edition and with this GPU this game is just full of life, NVIDIA PhysX is also hardwarematically supported and the entire GP104-410-A1 does everything on it's own, GPU's have come a long way, that was clear.
It's FSAA setting is the same as the Voodoo5 6000 Rotated Grid Super Sampled FSAA x8 and I have toadmit that image quality ahs also improved a lot over the years for NVIDIA GPU's.

So yes this EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX is a true healing for me and every day Iam loving it more and more, I look forward on how Volta will develop 8)
