Do i need anything to watch out if i want to use the pci version? I mean can i use in theory any board that has pci/x? Or have i to look for a special chipset.

I don't know what the card does on a 133 mhz PCI-X
The Problem is to find the right Mainboard. You want a Mainboard that supports 9x and PCI-X. There are some Pentium 4 Mainboards out there. But then you have only 266mb/s for GPU and Harddrives. There might be some Opteron Mainboards you could use. I never tested them with that Card.
You could also go on Core2 + PCI-X But you need to find all drivers.
-
Ok i will try than a Asus P6T WS Pro with winXP 32bit. It has PCI-X 1.0 what is compatible with 66MHz 3.3V. Will see if it works out..
-
Yeah it should work with XP and never. But i don't know if you will find drivers for 9x
The Card runs faster under 9x than under XP...
-
That was the idea behind using a newer system. I will test it report how it work. I still have a p4 v5500 setup with win98se and AGP. So this will be Fun system to see whats possible :).

asus mn2-lr is one of the boards which works in win9x. i did a brief test with some games and 3dmark runs without trying to install all the drivers for it. so few question marks may exist in the device manager. but it's not a big deal.
if cpu speed is not the goal, serverset iii based boards are good.

asus ws serie boards for c2d/c2q cpus should work fine with win9x as well. -
this one?:
then a 133 mhz pci bus should step down to 66 mhz
maybe we can find some good AM2 / 939 / single 940 Mainboards.
My Serverworks III didn't want to run with the Card... Resources Conflict. maybe it was just the BIOS?

yes, this board.
i beleive all pci-x slots has ability to automatically downstep to pci66 mode.
probably all the conflicts and start-up issues with 4-chip cards because of the pci-pci bridge, thus bios treat the card wrong. -

Any board with PCI-X "1.0" can stepdown to 66MHz what i read so far.
Asus has a good docu on that in the manuals of there workstation boards.
Asus P5E3 WS Pro looks also good. Looks like there win98 driver on the net for the board
-
well, win9x can be installed on x58 boards easily: https://www.modlabs.net/articles/insta…tel-x58-chipset
but win9x drivers don't work properly with a vsa 4-chip cards on cpus beyod c2d generation. -
I see, good to know! thanks for the link!

My Strange god agp runs fine but i have the 1024x768 Bug.... Problem ist 1024x768 Runs at 70 and 75hz but Not in 60hz...many Games and also 3dmark2001 i got a black Monitor... Frequenzy Out of Range... Troubleshooting?
-
The AMD751 is FSB100-only, so no XP2100+
The (very rare) XP1500+ FSB100 or the Thunderbird B 1400 are the fastest (supported) options for that board.
Wasn't there a Athlon Thunderbird 1500B as well, or was this just a prototype?

most likely it's the sync bug mentioned by Hank, not precise sli clock programming made in drivers, i believe. so yes, 60hz is the most compatible mode, or you have to pick a different display unit which will be more compatible. if your monitor is lcd, just set fixed 60hz refresh in display driver and that's it.

Got it today, what a beauty ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks alot!

I use a Sony multisync crt on the strange god and i can choose any modi i want in the monitor driver, got any time out of range with high resolutions. And yes on single chip mode anything works fine. But also lower res like 800x600 works on sli .

just use patched drivers. it's mandatory for pci cards
