Hi all it has been a while that I posted a new ATi card from my part well finally after 11 months of looking I finally found one, an original ATi Radeon HD 2900 XT PCI-E 1024MB 512Bit GDDR4 Rev.A2 0712 year 2007 week 12 aka Dragonshead 2, this is probably one of the first 1024 variants made:

AMD Athlon64 X2 5400+ Black Edition 2x 1MB L2 2800Mhz @ 3150 Mhz
Thermalright Ultra 120 True Copper
2x DDR2-1066 Crucial Balistix Tracer @ 900Mhz DDR
MSI K9A Platinum AMD 580X chipset aka ATi CrossFire Xpress 3200
ATi Radeon HD 2900 XTX 1024MB 512Bit GDDR4 Rev.A1 0705 Core / mem 750Mhz / 2020Mhz DDR [Niels]
ATi Radeon HD 2900 XT 1024MB 512Bit GDDR4 Rev.A2 0712 Core / mem 750Mhz / 2020Mhz DDR [Gold Leader]
So here some pics shall we

About the VGA's the big one is the HD 2900 XTX 1GB Prototype the smaller card is the one we all know the HD 2900XT 1GB Now here's the secret of the smaller card compared to it's bigger brother
The HD 2900XT 1GB was going to be the HD 2900 XTX Retail version since it's core/mem speeds are the same of the HD 2900 XTX 1GB Prototype, both run @ 750 / 2020Mhz DDR, but since the speed diff wasn't high enough compared to the HD 2900 XT 512MB GDDR3 ATi renamed the HD 2900 XTX 1GB 9.5" card to the HD 2900 XT 1GB.
It does somehow have an adavtage because of the larger VRAM size compared to the 512 Meg model and yes the ram does run faster 2020Mhz DDR compared to 1650 Mhz DDR, but thie thing that makes the speed diff so small is that the 1GB card has 512Biit GDDR4 and the 512MB card has 512Bit GDDR3.. and with this difference you would need lots more ram speed to make the GDDR4 card run lots faster. 1650Mhz 512Bit GDDR3 has about the same speed as 1850Mhz 512Bit GDDR4, so there is somewhat speed diff but it's just a mere 5 to 7% max, which was not equivilant to name the HD 2900 XT 1GB as an XTX model.
Now here's the oddball truth the HD 2900 XTX Prototype has been flashed with a HD 2900 XT 1GB bios, maybe that the fewer XTX cards were reflashed as XT's for the OEM market, or as test model for the 9,5 " HD 2900XT 1GB's we all have today, this is something I have to find out, but in theory this is a great possibility that this HD 2900XTX has something to do with the development of the HD 2900 XT 1GB cards.
Such prototypes are also known as Pre-Production Engineering Samples.;)
And yeah about the case my mae Niels said you just have to be crazy enough to buy them hehe which is true to some point but on the otherhand the case we are using is the ideal sollution for such experiments, because all the hardware is in easy reach.
Well we didn't have much time to run some games but we did run these two:
Unreal Tournament 2007 @ 1600 x 1200 x32 no aa and no af @ 62 fps constant no dips at all, it seems that this game has a fps limitation of 62 and no more.
Retrun To Castle Wolfenstein @ 1600x 1200 x32 CFAA x32 + Adative AA Supersampled and AF x16 all gamessettings to max and also the game hit 87 to 91 fps max no other dips were really notuiced.
