Shuttle XPC's

I have been playing with my SS51G V2 lately. Was meant to be my primary retro pc as the OG V5 only works with a few selected boards. I have new plans now

But I have done some modifications to it. Recapped the original PSU, but is still too loud, so I have to find a Seasonic somewhere. Removed the rear grill, replaced original fan with a really silent Nortua, also placed a fan on the chipset heatsink. Cut the side to make my modified V5 fit. Now I'm designing an acrylic window. I have struggled to get USB 2.0 working in 98SE, but have sorted that out.

2*1 GB DDR ram

Diamond mx300

Voodoo 5 5500

120GB SSD with sata ->ata adapter

dvd burner + card reader

I plan to replace the dvd rom and make a new fascia, sand down the original paint and repaint it.

Er macht es aber richtig. Das scheiß Gitter ist absolut unbrauchbar.

Ist Dein Gitter zu viel, hast Du schlecht konfiguriert......

Ich habe die Dmx xfire 1024 aber in betrieb mit s2 midi wavetable aus dem serdashop.

Was ist an der Karte schlecht? Läuft wunderbar.

Ah okay, musste erstmal schauen was Amithlon ist. Jetzt weis ich es.

Why? It's way too restrictive on the back, serves no purpose. I'll put a nicer grill on the back. On the side a nice window to showcase the voodoo gpu. It's a small box and if you can get better airflow, you should do it. It will only prolong the functioning of the HW.

Das klingt sehr spannend, möchtest du vllt. mal auf eine der angekündigten LAN Party kommen? Das Mulitboot und auch Amithlon würde mich sehr interessieren. Ich kann im Gegenzug einfach mal meine komplette Shuttle Armee mitbringen. Sollten so ca. 18 Stück sein^^ hab schon selbst kein Überblick mehr, Hilfe!!! sie sind überall!

Wenn ich mich kurz hier einklinken darf: was ist den so das flotteste was man sauber und unkompliziert mit Win98 zum laufen bekommt? Ich hab hier noch einen Athlon64 ST20G5 mit xpress200, der eigentlich laufen sollte. Was würdet ihr empfehlen? Im Prinzip braucht nur ein PCI-anschluss am Board sein...

Ne ich will ihn möglicherweise als Basis für meine Strange God PCI nutzen.

Für meine Radeon 8500 Geforce 3, Kyro II und Voodoo 5 AGP hab ich noch andere Kisten. Geht nur ums basteln, nicht ums spielen.

Was ist eigentlich die älteste Plattform bei den Shuttels die es gab?

Shuttle hat da eine eigene "XPC History" Seite: [Link]. Die scheinbar älteste Box hat einen VIA PL133 mit Sockel 370. Das ist der [XPC Barebone SV24]. Keine Ahnung was sie sonst bzw. vor den XPCs gebaut haben. Ich meine, die Firma wurde 1983 gegründet, ist also für'n IT Sektor eh schon ein Urgestein.

Ok, also Coppermine-Zeit, verstehe.

Ein XPC mit einem Pentium 233 MMX wäre ja mal was geiles. Dazu eine Matrox Mystique 220 mit 4 MB und eine Voodoo 2 mit 8MB.

Die ersten xpc sind wie GaT schob schrieb der sv24/sv25 mit Sockel 370 und Pentium 3

Das fetteste win98 shuttle sollte ein sn95g sein, hat nforce 3ultra, sockel 939 für z.b Athlon64 4000+ (san diego, single core) und 2x DDR1 400er slots.

Jetzt kommt das Aber.

Ich habe aus so einer kiste einen Hybrid gebaut mit v5 5500pci und 6800ultra. Läuft gut und performt gut.

Ich habe als nächstes einen kleineren Hybriden bauen wollen mit Athlon64 3800+ 6600Gt und voodoo2.

Läuft an sich auch, aber die v2 performt unterirdisch. Das ist das bekannte problem das v1/v2 in zu modernen pci Chipsätzen nicht mehr gut laufen.

Da es die v5 nicht betrifft gehe ich davon aus das eine 6000er auch gut performen sollte. aber müsste man. Versuchen.
